Organize Now for Rally & March
on International Women's Day!

We'll begin with Signholding & Rally at the State Capitol at 3pm; march to the Federal Building through downtown Honolulu.

*  Create an action with your organization or friends, or join any of the following actions to spread the word about March 8th!

-  February 14:  Valentine's Day Car Caravan.  Meet @ Kakaako Park (parking lot at end of Cooke Street) @ 3:45.  Caravan leaves for downtown Honolulu at 4pm and returns to starting point by 5pm.  Can't make it at 3:45?  Join at Kakaako Park @ 5pm and leave for Ala Moana/Waikiki at 5:15.  Pau before 6:30.  Some signs for cars will be available or decorate your car yourself. 

- February 16 (Wed), 4-5pm.  Signholding at Thomas Square (corner of King & Ward; across from Farmer's Market)

- February 20 (Sun), 10-11am. Signholding at the intersection of Atkinson/Ala Moana.  Entrance to Ala Moana Park.  Parking @ Ala Moana Shopping Center (below Macy's).  

- February 26 (Sat), 10-11am. Signholding at the intersection of Kapahulu/Kalakaua (in front of Honolulu Zoo).  Parking in the Zoo Parking lot before 10am or in the Kapiolani Park lot on Monsarrat.  

- March 5 (Sat), 7-8:30pm. Street Performance & Signholding at the Seaside/Kalakaua intersection in Waikiki.  Wear you bloody pants or handmaid outfit, carry a coathanger, or just hold a sign and make some noise.  Share your poem or dance.  Invite everyone who sees us to the March on International Women's Day!

Irrepressible, loud, irreverent - and green! Look at all of these beautiful faces. 350+ converged along Ala Moana Blvd the Federal Building on May 4 & 5 in response to the Draft Decision overturning Roe v. Wade with their creative signs, their friends, and their fury - making so much noise that people living in condos blocks away came to join. Chanting "Control over women is what they want - angry women is what they got" and "Abortion on Demand & Without Apology," their anger - and their joy - was contagious. Older women wiped away tears of joy as young women joined them to continue the fight. People talked together about what this means for women, for gay and trans rights and more. Many rang bells, whistled, and beat on noisemakers.

On March 8 – International Women’s Day – in  rallies and marches in New York and 12 other cities – people declared their refusal  to let the Supreme Court decimate women’s rights and gut or eliminate the right to abortion.  It was a great beginning! Hundreds marched through the streets of Manhattan, Los Angeles, and Berkeley. There were protests on college campuses in California and Texas, and by high school students in several locations.   In Honolulu ~80 people gathered at the State Capitol to hold signs and join a rally before a loud and energetic march through downtown Honolulu and around the Federal Building.  Many wore green bandanas or armbands to show solidarity with the International Green Wave Movement for Abortion Rights, which recently rose up in the streets, virtually shutting down their countries and winning the right to abortion in Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina. Spreading the Word - by Trolley! All eyes turned to the Green trolley, the chants, and the noise of bells as we rolled through Ala Moana Park & Waikiki Saturday night. Picnickers raised their fists, diners put down their forks, pedestrians stopped to take photos, arms were raised, people clapped, motorists honked. We often read that 75% of people in the U.S. support Roe v. Wade - but Saturday evening we saw it and felt it. This is what people WANT to see.
